Chapter 9 - Osaka Aquarium
We took a couple trains to get down to the Osaka Aquarium. The line wasn't too long but it was packed inside. Osaka Aquarium was the biggest most crowded aquarium we went to aside from the Tokyo Art Aquarium, but majority of the visitors were tourist as well. The biggest difference in the crowds seemed to be that while many of the local visitors were fairly respectful, the foreign tourist were quite rude and noisy, their kids screaming and running all over the place, strollers left in the middle of walkways. Osaka Aquarium is known for their large open ocean tank that houses two whale sharks! There were a few elementary schools that were here on field trips (they're incredibly well behaved) and it was pretty cute how they got all excited every time the whale sharks swam by. One thing to note, there are multiple gift shops at this aquarium... When leaving the aquarium the first gift shop you come across is really small. We bought our gifts thinking that was it, but continuing along past the aquarium exit, it opens up to a large "official" gift shop. We found better gifts there so we bought more stuff. Then we came across a third gift shop -_- but we skipped it because we had enough stuff already.. Not sure the reason for this layout but kinda sneaky...
After the aquarium we went to ride the Tempozan Giant Ferris Wheel. Not sure if there was any discount but we purchased our ferris wheel tickets with our aquarium tickets. Between the aquarium and ferris wheel is the Tempozan Market Place, which is like a shopping mall with a large food court. There were also a few little aquariums on display for whatever reason which features sea slugs.
When we got back to Kyoto, we stopped by BIC Camera to purchase another suitcase. We packed light and took one small and one medium suitcase to Japan with us, but we knew we'd do a lot of shopping so we had planned on purchasing another suitcase in Japan to take back with us.
We still had the hotel in Kyoto for one more night but given that it wasn't very comfortable we decided to catch the shinkansen in the evening back to Tokyo. We were planning on catching the shinkansen in the morning back to Tokyo, but made more sense to catch it that evening so we could sleep in a more spacious hotel back in Tokyo.
| They had one loney capybara :( |
| Jinbei! |
